    Severe Breast Pain......

    Breast pain, also know as (mastalgia) is a common complaint among women which can include breast tenderness, sharp burning pain or tightness in your breast tissue. The pain may be constant or it may occur only occasionally......



    The signs and symptoms
    of breast pain include:

    • The breast may become tender
    • the breast may swell
    • The pain can spread to the underarm.
    • Both breasts are typically affected, especially the upper, outer portions.
    • The pain comes cyclically, just like the menstrual cycle does.
    • The Pain becomes more intense a few days before the period comes. In some cases pain may start a couple of weeks before menstruation.
    • It is more likely to affect younger women. 
    • The breasts may become generally lumpy (not with a single, hard lump).  


                        causes of breast pain are:
    • Acid Reflux
    • Breast cancer
    • Breast cyst
    • Breast trauma e.g previous breast surgery
    • Breast feeding related problems which maybe as a result of possible infection
    • chest wall pain
    • sickle cell anemia
    • shoulder pain
    • pregnancy
    • psychological. 
    • Menstrual cycle
    • Estrogen medications, including birth control pills
    • Adolescent pregnancy
    • Early pregnancy

    • Getting active exercise every day.
    • Avoiding salt 1 - 2 weeks before your period starts.
    • During the daytime, wear a well-fitting bra to give good breast support
    • performing breast self-examination every month.
